Grants made in June 2023 impact communities statewide.
Wyoming Community Foundation distributes almost $1 million to nonprofit organizations.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LARAMIE – The Wyoming Community Foundation (WYCF) recently awarded almost $1 million in grants to causes across Wyoming. These grants were made as part of WYCF’s competitive grant cycle, which distributes funding to nonprofit organizations from around the state for important projects and general operating.
The WYCF Statewide Board made grants to support a variety of charitable purposes across Wyoming. Overall, the board distributed 41 grants for nonprofits around the state.
Statewide grantees include My Front Door who received funds for general operating support. Funding will help with financial literacy and first-time homeownership programs serving low-to-moderate (LMI) families with children, in southeast Wyoming. Housing is a major issue in numerous Wyoming communities, including Cheyenne and Laramie. Programming includes financial literacy/preparedness classes, savings and maintenance phases.
The Worland Community Garden Expansion also received funding. A program of the Washakie County Conservation District, the expansion will provide more space to grow food, offer educational opportunities in regenerative practices and provide green space for community gatherings. Funds will be used to build a fence to protect the harvest from wildlife and provide access. Since the garden started in 2015, it has produced up to 4,000 pounds of produce each season that is distributed to the community at no charge. The rising cost of food increased the need for local food and education on gardening techniques.
“WYCF staff and board members spend countless hours in preparation and reviewing grant requests. To finally be able to complete the process and grant the funds is quite special. One gets a true sense of the passion that all Wyomingites have for building their communities, and we are blessed to be able to aid them on their journeys.”
For over 30 years the Wyoming Community Foundation (WYCF) has connected people who care with causes that matter to build a better Wyoming. WYCF has granted more than $100 million to charitable causes while also providing a variety of support to our nonprofit agency fund holders.
