Wyoming Community Foundation to Accept Cryptocurrency Donations

The Wyoming Community Foundation (WYCF), a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization operating statewide, will accept charitable donations in Bitcoin and over 100 cryptocurrencies throughout its end-of-year fundraising campaign, beginning with #CryptoGivingTuesday (Nov. 29) continuing through the end of the year known as #BagSeason. #CryptoGivingTuesday is Nov. 29 but interested donors can give crypto every day of the year.

Since 2019, #CryptoGivingTuesday has fostered a culture of philanthropy among cryptocurrency users, a demographic which now exceeds 300 million worldwide. Even more, the crypto industry is one of the most philanthropic donor demographics on the planet. Like Giving Tuesday, which falls on the same day, #CryptoGivingTuesday helps organizations like WYCF connect donors to causes they care about giving to —in this case, the donations come in cryptocurrency, rather than cash, credit card, or check.

Due to mainstream adoption and the popularity of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum, the Wyoming Community Foundation chose to diversify gift options for donors by accepting crypto donations this year.

“We are excited to offer cryptocurrency as another giving option at WYCF,” says Chief Operating Officer at WYCF, Sarah Chapman. “This increases the ways people can give to causes they care about most.  It is our hope that donors find giving cryptocurrency through WYCF easy, useful, and impactful this holiday season and beyond.”

The Wyoming Community Foundation will be joined in #CryptoGivingTuesday fundraising efforts by its partner, The Giving Block, which provides technological solutions and support to charities that want to accept cryptocurrency donations.
