Donating a gift of cryptocurrency to the community foundation is an easy way to make a difference, impacting your community today and far into the future. We accept cryptocurrency contributions to all our funds. Gifts of cryptocurrency are a simple and tax-efficient way to make an impact on the causes you care about most and helping with our mission of providing charitable support to Wyoming nonprofits.
Save on your Taxes by Donating Crypto
By donating a gift of appreciated cryptocurrency directly to the community foundation, you can also avoid capital gains tax.
The IRS classifies cryptocurrency as property for tax purposes which means it can be the most tax efficient way to support your favorite cause. When donating crypto, you may receive a tax deduction for the fair market value of the crypto, and may avoid the capital gains tax you would have incurred if you had sold the crypto outright and then made a donation.
That means you’re able to donate more, as well as deduct more on your tax return. The difference? Sometimes more than 30%. Please contact your tax or financial advisor for more information.
Please note: all cryptocurrency donations made to the Wyoming Community Foundation are immediately converted to USD, making the donation non-refundable. No goods, services or airdrops will be provided in exchange for cryptocurrency donations.

When you donate crypto to the Wyoming Community Foundation, we immediately convert your donation to USD via The Giving Block, which means all donations are non-refundable. Donating crypto is easy using our widget above:
- Select the crypto type you wish to donate (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.)
- Enter the donation amount in dollars or fractions
- In the “donation notes” field, enter the name of the WYCF fund you want to give to
- Enter your donor information
- Scan the crypto code on the donation page to make the donation from your crypto wallet
