About this grant
The Wyoming Youth for Natural Resources (WYNR) Grant Program helps young people explore, understand, and care for Wyoming's wildlife and natural resources through hands-on learning. By supporting meaningful conservation projects and outdoor experiences, these grants empower youth to develop the knowledge, skills, and curiosity needed to become tomorrow's environmental stewards.
Eligibility
- Open to public schools, youth organizations, and nonprofit organizations
- Nonprofit organizations exempt from federal taxation under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Confirm your nonprofit status here.
- On occasion, public/governmental agencies and other exempt organizations that engage Wyoming youth in science-based conservations and natural resource education
How much can I request?
Most grant amounts awarded are between $1,000-$10,000, with other amounts considered. An organization may receive full funding, partial funding, or be denied funding. In some cases, additional conditions may be attached to funding approval. If you are uncertain as to how much to request, we encourage you to contact Ben at Benk@wycf.org.
WYCF accepts one application per organization per grant deadline. If you have previously received funding, a final report must be submitted prior to submitting a new grant request.
Strong proposals typically:
- Address a wildlife or natural resource conservation issue relevant to Wyoming
- Engage youth as active participants in planning, learning, or stewardship
- Encourage volunteerism and conservation-minded leadership
- Incorporate science, technology, or innovative approaches to outdoor learning
- Include measurable outcomes and a plan for lasting impact beyond the grant period
- Demonstrate collaboration with schools, agencies, nonprofits, or community partners when possible
