POSITION SUMMARY

The Scholarship and Communication Coordinator is focused on all scholarship processes, baseline communications work with respect to social media and website updates and grant administration support. The job has flexibility based on writing skills and interests of the individual re: photography, in state travel, short video production etc.

This is a non-exempt, full-time benefitted position. Starting salary~$33,000.

JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. 40% – Scholarship Administration:
  • Develops mastery of all scholarship materials including but not limited to understanding of eligibility criteria and funding mechanisms
  • Manages incoming applications, prepares scholarship packets for selection committees, inputs awarded applicants into the database
  • Acts as liaison between schools, students and the public to provide information and resources regarding scholarship activities and opportunities
  • Sends out renewal notices, awards and decline letters and prepares the payment schedule
  • Assists communications director with scholarship media releases and works with schools to increase applicants as needed
  • Handles confidential information in a discrete and professional manner
  1. 40% – Communications:
  • Updates and edits WordPress websites of WYCF and priority funds
  • Updates social media to highlight work and activities of WYCF, priority funds and grantees
  • Creates short videos highlighting the work of WYCF and its funds
  • Writes and distributes press releases
  • Assists the Director of Communication and other staff with communication-related projects as they arise
  1. 20% – General Grants Administration:
  • General administrative work including mailings, filing and data processing.
  • Learning the FIMS database and working on general competitive grant processes as time allows
  • Works with WYCF staff to ensure that grant processes are consistent and collaborative
  • Performs other tasks as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; or significant work experience
  • Excellent technology skills and understanding of the latest technology available

BEHAVIORS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Some lifting of boxes necessary – up to 30 lbs.
  • Must have analytical and organizational skills
  • Oral and written communication skills/ English required
  • Regular attendance is an essential job function
  • Ability to work daily and function effectively in stressful situations. May be required to work occasional overtime hours as needed to meet deadlines.
